Description

The Palace of Versailles was once residence of three French kings, Louis XIV, Louis XV, and Louis XVI, their courts, and the French government from 1682 to 1789. It has been listed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage site for over 30 years and is considered to be one of the most beautiful achievements in French art.

The tour departs from Paris at 8:45am, with a 45 minute journey on a luxury air-conditioned coach. Your tour guide, who is present throughout the day, gives you an introduction of the Versailles great history.

Palace of Versailles – On arrival to the palace, explore the majesty of the Palace of Versailles and its most beautiful rooms. The palace's Baroque architecture, extravagant decorations, art work and furniture were all created by skilled craftsmen. Guide commentary will be played through individual headsets.

Covering an area of over 721000 sq. feet, the Palace of Versailles has more than 700 rooms. Your guide will take you straight inside the palace with your priority access tickets. Enjoy the beautiful rooms; the Kings and Queens Apartments, the bedroom of Marie Antoinette and the seven elegant salons – The Hercules Salon, The Abundance Salon, The Venus Salon, The Diana Salon, The Apollo Salon, The Mars Salon and The Mercury Salon, each dedicated to a different god.

Explore the Hall of Mirrors, a massive room that has a 40-foot ceiling. It is about 240 feet long and 34 feet wide. On one wall around 357 mirrors stretch from the floor to the ceiling and on the opposite wall, 17 large glass doors offer breathtaking views of Versailles' sprawling gardens. The Hall of Mirrors was designed to include three key themes – political achievements, economic achievements and artistic achievement, as directed by Louis XVI.

Palace of Versailles Gardens - After your visit to the palace, you can use your free time to explore the beautiful formal gardens. There are about 200 statues, fountains, flower beds, ponds and trees. After your stroll, enjoy lunch at the "La Petite Venise" restaurant, located on the grounds of the Palace and overlooking the Grand Canal.

Get ready for the second half of your tour, to Royal family’s secondary residences, the Small and Large Trianons and the Queen's Hamlet. Located in a peaceful corner of the palace grounds, the Large Trianons were built for Louis XIV. The Pink Marble Palace, which is one of the most elegant buildings at Versailles, is surrounded by delicate gardens and a pool.

Next, visit the Small Trianon, including Queen Marie Antoinette's boudoir and the fairy-tale setting of the Queen's Hamlet. It has 12 cottages, a lake, rivers and a farm, just like a small Normandy village. This was Marie Antoinette’s favorite place; she came here frequently with her children and friends to enjoy the scenic beauty.

After visiting the Hamlet, return to your luxury coach for your journey back to Paris. Arrive back in Paris at around 5:45pm.
