You will be transferred to The Gateway Hotel, complete check-in and refresh yourself. In the Afternoon, Explore Cochin City. Visit Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, Jew Street and many other places.

Cochin or Kochi has been attracting merchants and travelers to its coasts for more than 600 years. Nowhere else in India could you find such an interesting mix: Giant fishing nets, 400 year old Synagogue, Ancient Mosques, Portuguese houses and the crumbling remains of the British Raj. The result is an unlikely blend of Medieval Portugal, Holland and an English village grafted onto the tropical Malabar Coast.

Day 2: Travel from Cochin to Periyar aka Thekkady
Post breakfast, Enjoy beautiful 4 hour drive to Periyar. Check-in at hotel in the afternoon. Later, enjoy a boat ride at Periyar Lake to explore wildlife. In the evening, visit spice plantations like Cardamom, Cinnamon, Pepper and many more. Visit Tea & Coffee Estates as well. Overnight at the Wild Corridor or similar category resort.

Periyar/Thekkady summons up images of Elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. The Periyar Forests of Thekkady are one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. Spread across the entire district is picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks.

Day 3: A day filled with activities at Periyar

Enjoy the breakfast and then proceed for 3 hour trek in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Later proceed to visit Spice Market and Spice Plantations. Rest of the day will be free at leisure. Overnight at the Wild Corridor or similar category resort.

Day 4: A day to have unique experience, overnight on the houseboat
Today morning after the breakfast, proceed to Alleppey, known as the Venice of the East. On arrival check into a Premium Traditional Houseboat of Kerala. Cruising through the backwaters is the fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of Kerala. Traditional Kerala food will be served on board. Stay overnight in the comfortable & air conditioned Houseboat.

Houseboats in Kerala are huge, slow-moving barges used for leisure trips. They are a reworked model of traditional boats which, in earlier times, were used to carry Rice and Spices from Kuttanad to the Cochin Port. Kerala Houseboats were considered a convenient means of transportation. The popularity of Houseboats has returned in the function as major tourist attractions. Such a houseboat is about 60 to 70 feet long and about 15 feet wide at the middle. The hull is made of wooden planks that are held together by ropes of Coconut Fiber. The roof is made of Bamboo Poles and Palm leaves. The exterior of the boat is painted with protective coats of Cashew Nut Oil.

Day 5: Time to leave the houseboat and travel to Pattanamthitta (2 Hrs Drive)
After breakfast, disembark houseboat and proceed to Pattanamthitta. On arrival check-in at the hotel. In Pattanamthitta you can meet the Masters of Metallurgy at Aranmula where you will experience the fine Art of Making Mirrors from Metal. This craft has been in existence for no less than 1000 years and is still running well. These mirrors hold the place of the most sought after mementos and souvenirs worldwide.

You can see huge wooden snake boats near Aranmula either in their yard or plying in the waters of the holy Pampa River. These are the modified forms (for water sport) of those vessels built by the ancient rulers of Kerala for attacking the enemies through the Waterfront carrying up to 200 fighters.

Here you can also watch the extraction and purification of edible oils from the seeds through the preparation methods prevalent in medieval India. Recycling old cloth and other used materials into hard boards is another attraction here. Overnight stay at the Manaas Veedu Ayurveda Resort or similar category accommodation.

Day 6: Travel to Kovalam, visit Konni Elephant Cage
After breakfast, how about joining the Indian Tuskers at their own turf for a day? Bathing them in the local springs while they lay calm to be pampered by you, feeding them, climbing on their back and having a safari seated on top of these mammoth? You can also mingle with the Mahouts and learn a lot about these wise mammals. This facility is provided by the Government of Kerala, at the Elephant Cage at Konni. Later drive to Kovalam, the beach enriched with rich Greenery of Coconut Palms and laced with golden sands. On arrival check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day free to relax and enjoy the beach. Overnight stay at the Travancore Heritage Beach Grove or the similar category resort.
