Your visit to Rome isn’t complete until you have seen this. Your tour begins at Trastevere, one of the most treasured areas of Rome by locals and tourists alike. Be in awe of the marvellous Basilica of St. Mary in Trastevere, and then enjoy a leisurely walk through beautiful alleys. Visit Isola Tiberina, a pretty island on the Tiber river and cross Ponte Fabricio, the oldest bridge in town, to reach the Jewish Ghetto: one of the oldest Jewish communities in Rome.

Life in the ghetto was at that time, one of crushing poverty, due to the ruthless restrictions placed upon unskilled jobs, such as ragmen, second hand dealers or fish mongers that Jewish people commonly held. Find out how those people lived at that time and look at it now, full of life and a great destination for leisure time. Wander through the medieval alleys that survived the restoration of the area and be in awe of the gorgeous Fountain of Turtles by Giacomo Della Porta.

Admire the 20th century buildings side to side with the medieval ones and the fascinating archaeological area of the Porticus Octaviae, the remains of an ancient Roman building. Your guide will introduce to you the Synagogue of Rome, built after Italy’s amalgamation in 1870, when the Jews were given Italian citizenship.

Your tour ends at the Synagogue in order to allow you to access it if you’d like (at your expense, and according to the Synagogue opening times – the entrance includes a guided tour inside 45 minutes/1hrs approximately).

The tour ends in front of Synagogue.
